Song of the Day: Beyonce - “Grown Woman”

When she started the European leg of the Mrs. Carter Tour fans were worried about whether or not she’d perform new music. When she reached Paris she broke out “Grown Woman” and the Beyhive went crazy. Shaky cellphone videos with crappy audio were all over the youtube as everyone couldn’t wait to hear it. There were versions of the song on youtube that just featured the music from the Pepsi commercial looped. It wasn’t the real thing, but people were so thirsty for new Beyonce that they’d get it anyway possible.

Well, last night the real thing leaked and it sounds much better than it did in the video or the commercials. It’s a very summery track which brings Beyonce back to the dance floor after abandoning it for the more personal ballad driven 4. The album is produced by Timbaland, and written by The-Dream. After hearing this (quite a few times) I wonder how much of a tip of the hand this single will have to telling the sound of her upcoming album.
